Inari Sushi



Inari Sushi is a traditional Japanese sushi made with seasoned rice stuffed into seasoned fried tofu pouches. It's sweet, savory, and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 10 pieces aburaage fried tofu pouches
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Sesame seeds optional
  • Thinly sliced green onions optional

Instructions:

Cook sushi rice according to package instructions

In a small saucepan, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt

Heat over low heat until sugar dissolves

Let cool

Cut aburaage in half and open each pouch gently

In another saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, and sugar

Add aburaage halves and simmer for 5 minutes

Remove from heat and let cool

Once rice is cooked, gently fold in the vinegar mixture until well combined

Let rice cool to room temperature

Gently squeeze excess liquid from aburaage halves

Stuff each aburaage pouch with sushi rice

Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired

Serve and enjoy!
